Tree Taken Down Because of One Complaint

At Missouri State Universtity, last Monday, a 20-foot tree taken down because of one complaint by a facualty member who was Jewish. She complained that it was insenstive of other religions. I think that was just stupid. Just becasuse you put a tree up in a lobby doesn't mean it is trying to insult your religion or views. Administrators later decided yesterday to put the tree back up but along with other religious symbols. Ok, that's alright, but does it really matter that much. I mean, if you want to put a tree up in a lobby, then you should be able to without having to make up for it to other people. http://www.ky3.com/news/local/11913886.html

I don't believe that is right. I don't think a tree should be taken down because of that. I don't see how a tree could offend someone, especially someone's religious beliefs.

I think removing a Christmas tree from a public establishment because a staff member is "insulted" by it is ridiculous. The tree is a symbol of the Christian holiday, but is by no means degrading towards the Jewish religion. At this rate, people will no longer be allowed to have Christmas trees in their windows because someone will find a way to complain about it. This is what happens when liberalists run the country.

i see how the tree could offend other religions but its the people who put it up choice on what should be on it. Thats stupid the tree was taken down over one comment, i mean if there was numerous comments then yeah i would of taken it down but one comment, people please.

I don't believe that the tree should have been taken down due to one complaint about it offending a religion. If there was more than one complaint on the other hand, it would be a different story. One persons view should not effect the entire administration of the university. As long as it wasn't offensive to the religion it should not have been taken down.

I do not think that this one Christmas tree could offend to many people. I think it is a poor choice on the administrators part that it was released to the press that the tree was taken down due to one complaint. Maybe if there was a rebellion of non christian students, but this was a staff member.

To me, if a tree is taken down, its not going to make a big difference. If we continue to not concentrate on the big, more important for the now, problems, then it is just prolonging the inevitable, to make it clearer, if we can only think about these little problems instead of the ones that are going to matter in the near future, then we are going to fail in this world, but I'm not a politician so it's not my worries. Good luck to all who try lol.
